ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning is a formal pathway that allows experienced tradespeople to gain official certification based on their existing skills — no full apprenticeship required.

ARPL is for tradespeople who have built real skills on the job but never received a formal certificate. If you can do the work, we help you prove it officially.

A successful application results in an officially accredited trade qualification, accepted by employers and institutions across South Africa.

WHAT YOU NEED

Certified copy of South African ID (Required)
Both sides. Clear and legible. Certified by a commissioner of oaths.
Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) (Required)
Both sides. Clear and legible. Certified by a commissioner of oaths.

Official company letterhead
Must include company registration number and VAT number.
Employment start and end dates
If currently employed, state “To Date” as the end date.
Detailed trade-related job responsibilities
Must specifically describe duties related to your trade — generic descriptions are not sufficient.
Signed by HR or direct line manager
Include full name, job title, and contact details of the signatory.
Candidate’s full name and ID number visible
Your name and ID number must appear clearly on the letter.
Submitted in colour
Black-and-white copies are not accepted. Colour scans or originals only.
